The Department of Physics at the University of Redlands invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Physics to begin August 2017. In addition to offering B.S and B.A. degrees in physics and minors in physics and astronomy, the department supports an engineering combined-degree program. The successful candidate will teach a broad range of undergraduate physics courses for both non-majors and majors, which will include electronics and advanced laboratory. Any subfield of physics will be considered.

The University is located sixty miles east of downtown Los Angeles, in a town of 70,000. The campus is surrounded by orange groves and sits at the base of the San Bernardino Mountains, one hour from the coast, and 45 minutes from Palm Springs. Commuter rail into downtown Los Angeles and coastal areas is available nearby.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:   A Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field is required. A strong commitment to undergraduate education, including mentoring students from diverse backgrounds and working closely with student researchers, is essential. Also, successful candidates will be expected to support the College’s new general education curriculum.
