STARTING SALARY:   $17.64 - $18.27 per hour

GRADE:   “6”

DESCRIPTION:   The Billing Specialist is responsible for billing and invoicing for all student populations (approximately 5000 students).  Reviews student account activity to ensure accuracy, troubleshoots errors and reconciles accounts.  Processes credit balances to ensure compliance with federal regulations. Duties include, but are not limited to:

•Responsible for all student billing, including:

•Sponsor Billing

•Direct Billing

•Third Party Billing

•Responsible for invoicing all receivables as needed through electronic and paper processes

•Processes credit balances and ensures compliance with 14-day federal regulation

•Processes reversal of stale dated checks and ensures compliance of federal regulations as it relates to title IV funding

•Reviews course registrations in Colleague and compares student account activity to ensure courses have been correctly charged or credited

•Troubleshoots billing errors

•Reconciles all accounts

•Processes all Special Receivable Billings including corporate partners, direct bill invoices and sponsor bill programs.

•Processes third party loan servicer payments

•Works with third party sponsors on invoice issues

•Applies and Reconciles manual account adjustments

•Maintains department confidence and safeguards operations by keeping information confidential

•Adheres to all safety and housekeeping policies and procedures

•Performs other duties and special projects as assigned or directed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with one (1) year of additional coursework in related fields.  Three (3) years of related experience in a similar position or an equivalent combination thereof.  Successful candidate will possess extensive understanding of student receivables, refunds and tuition liability. Must have excellent communication, organization and analytical skills. Must have strong personal computer skills including proficiency with spreadsheets, data base, and word processing software applications. Must be able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of alumni, community, government agencies, collection and billing agencies, students, faculty and staff.
