DESCRIPTION:  Reporting to Director of Academic Computing & Instructional Technology Services, responsible to lead and manage instructional and academic technology projects and initiatives, and to manage the Academic Computing & Instructional Technology lab staff. Assist in the innovative integration of technology within the learning spaces of the university and the regional teaching centers.

  • Manage, supervise and lead a team of technical staff in supporting academic technology in technology-enabled classrooms (TECs) and computer labs; including maintenance of related hardware and software.
  • Provide face to face, phone and online support to users on technical issues related to computer labs and technology enabled classrooms. 
  • Identify and implement emerging technologies to enhance student success and faculty teaching in conventional classrooms, and in a hybrid or online setting.
  • Manage instructional technology projects and lead the implementation of technology initiatives, and provide training to faculty, staff and administrators on these various instructional technologies.
  • Administer and support complex instructional technology tools such as a learning management system (Moodle), lecture capture solutions, multi-media development, video conferencing, clickers, mobile devices, web 2.0 tools, social networking tools, document cameras and similar technology tools to develop multi-media solutions in support of online/hybrid learning.  
  • Consult with faculty on pedagogy and technology-related issues, demonstrating a clear understanding and proficiency in the optimal use of technology to enhance face-to face, hybrid and online teaching and learning. 
  • Understand the needs of faculty and students with varied technical and communication backgrounds in a higher education setting, and provide effective support based on their specific needs.
  • Performs other related duties and projects as assigned or directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design/MIS/CS/CIS plus a minimum of five (5) years recent experience supporting instructional and academic technology in a higher education institution, including a minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated management experience. Graduate degree in a related field is preferred. The candidate must be experienced in managing technical projects, working individually and with technical and non-technical teams, leading enterprise-level technology projects for an institution of higher education. The ACITS Computing & Digital Learning Manager will support Academic Computing and Instructional Technology, and must have experience in, and be proficient, in both areas.  Strong oral and written communication skills that enable effective leadership, effective training, and collaborative team membership. The ideal candidate will possess experience working with diverse constituencies and sensitivity to multi-cultural issues; ability to work productively in a collaborative environment, meet deadlines, and demonstrate experience with high quality client–oriented services.
