ANNOUNCEMENT OF FACULTY POSITION OPENING

The University of Redlands Theatre Arts Department welcomes applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor in Scenic and Costume Design. The visitor (3-3 load) will design two department productions per year; teach Stage Design Fundamentals, Scenic Design Techniques, Costume Design Techniques, and other courses depending on areas of expertise (mask-making, scene painting, etc.) and mentor student designers on department productions.

The department seeks candidates who have experience working with students from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Candidates who apply are asked to identify their strengths and experiences in assisting diverse student populations to accomplish curricular goals.

The University of Redlands is a private, comprehensive liberal arts institution located 60 miles east of Los Angeles in a town of 70,000. The campus is surrounded by orange groves and sits at the base of the San Bernardino Mountains, one hour from the coast, and 40 miles west of Palm Springs. Required and Desired Qualifications: An MFA in Design is required. Evidence of success at college teaching and an ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment are desired. Also, being sought is a demonstrated ability to foster creativity and critique work among students with varying degrees of experience.
