On Friday, January 27, 2017, the President of the United States issued an Executive Order suspending entry into the United States of immigrants and nonimmigrants from several Muslim-majority countries, which was challenged in court and later revised. Please refer to NAFSA travel advisory for updated information and resources on how this order affects U of R faculty, students, and staff.
On September 5, 2017, the White House rescinded the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which since 2012 has provided legal protection and eligibility for a work permit to approximately 800,000 individuals who entered the U.S. illegally as children and remain undocumented.
