UR Men’s Soccer  Nabs SCIAC Championship

The team’s 4-0 win against Occidental College marks its 13th Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title in 16 years.

The University of Redlands men’s soccer team defeated the Occidental College Tigers on Oct. 29 to secure the 2017 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) championship.

The team's 4-0 victory over the Tigers marks its third consecutive SCIAC title and the Bulldogs’ 13th conference championship in the past 16 seasons—eight of which were earned under the leadership of Head Coach Ralph Perez.

Game highlights included a pregame ceremony honoring seniors Matt Speegle, Jared Bales, Colin Zaccagnio, Isaac Bogart and Austin Moore, superb passing and kicks, and exemplary moves by the Bulldog defensive unit and junior goalkeeper John Melito, who earned the shutout after making four saves in a full-game effort.
