The College Success Strategies course (SSRV 154) is offered each semester to help students gain the skills necessary to succeed at the University. The class is offered each semester on Fridays once a week.
This two-unit, credit/no credit course is designed to assist any student with obtaining the study skills and life skills necessary for academic success. "Becoming a Master Student," by David Ellis, is the text for the class.
The course teaches students time management skills, learning styles and techniques to improve memory, reading, notes and test taking skills. Emphasis is placed on developing positive attitudes, setting personal learning goals and motivating students through life goals and career planning. The cultures of the University and campus resources are explored.
