Pinde Fu leads the Platform Engineering team at Esri Professional Services Division and is a senior GIS application developer. His specialties include web GIS applications in national spatial data infrastructure, health and environmental studies, emergency management, planning, natural resource management, and landscape ecology. Several of the GIS projects Fu designed and implemented have won special achievement awards at Esri International User Conferences, as well as the Excellence.gov award from the American Council for Technology.

Fu has been active in the commercial and the academic sides of GIS. He is a past president of CPGIS (International Association of Chinese Professional Services in GIS) and has taught Web GIS at Harvard University Extension and several other universities. He is the author of the book Getting to Know Web GIS (Esri Press, 1st edition 2015, 2nd edition 2016, and 3rd edition 2018), the lead author of Web GIS Principles and Technologies (China Higher Education Press 2018) and Web GIS: Principles and Applications (Esri Press, 2010).

Fu has a PhD in GIS from the University of Kansas, an MS in GIS from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a BS in Geography from Henan University.
