As a senior GIS application developer at Esri's Professional Services Division, Pinde Fu leads the company's Platform Configuration team. His specialties include web GIS applications in national spatial data infrastructure, health and environmental studies, emergency management, planning, natural resource management, and landscape ecology. Several of the GIS projects Fu designed and implemented have won special achievement awards at Esri International User Conferences, as well as the award from the American Council for Technology.

Fu has been active in the commercial and the academic sides of GIS. He is a past president of CPGIS (International Association of Chinese Professional Services in GIS) and has taught Web GIS at Harvard University Extension and several other universities. The Web GIS course he taught at Henan University in Kaifeng, China, was honored as a National Model Bilingual Course by the Chinese Ministry of Education.

He co-authored the book Web GIS: Principles and Applications (Esri Press, 2010), and is the author of Getting to Know Web GISrecently  (Esri Press, 2015 and 2016).

Fu earned his Ph.D. in GIS from the University of Kansas, an M.S. in GIS from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a B.S. in Geography from Henan University.
