About the University of Redlands’ School of Education

Since 1924, the University of Redlands’ School of Education has been at the forefront of preparing teachers, counselors, and administrators for educational leadership in Southern California. Our three distinct departments offer enriching academic experiences that challenge our students to become innovative scholar-practitioners guided by the ideals of equity and access.

Through intensive practical experiences paired with cutting-edge theory and a focus on educational justice in today's diverse and challenging landscape, graduates from the School of Education enter the workforce exceptionally well prepared to make a difference in the lives of their students and communities. The Department of Teaching and Learning


Encourage change directly in the classroom by elevating diverse learning perspectives and capabilities. The School of Education’s Department of Teaching and Learning equips educators to make an impact at the Pre-K-12 level. Build off your bachelor’s degree to grow what you know about teaching and instructional design while preparing to meet California’s teacher certification requirements.

Redlands Department of Teaching and Learning houses our teaching credential programs and our Master of Arts in Education, Learning and Teaching (with credential). Our full-time faculty members hold doctoral degrees and have extensive experience as teachers in K-12 schools. Their expertise covers teacher preparation, curriculum and instruction, and special education.

Department of Leadership and Higher Education


Transform learning environments from the top down. The Department of Leadership and Higher Education’s graduate programs help you step into an administrative or director role in K-12 schools, as well as in colleges and universities. To reach this goal, programs train you to drive progress through diversity, equity, and multiculturality and foster the success of all students in the process.

The Department of Leadership and Higher Education is home to four graduate programs, including a Doctorate of Education (EdD) in Leadership for Educational Justice and three Master of Arts programs in Educational Administration and Higher Education. These programs are instructed by faculty members with experience in the fields of leadership, educational administration, and policy.

The Department of Counseling

 

Gain the skills to lift up and support students and clients, and explore diversity not just as an end goal but as a problem-solving tool for today’s world. The Department of Counseling and Human Services’ graduate programs prepare you for a career of adaptive, responsive service in schools, nonprofits, and government organizations.

The School of Education's Department of Counseling and Human Services features two graduate programs in Counseling—School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling—as well as an online Master of Arts in Human Services. Faculty within this department are strongly committed to training excellent education practitioners who graduate prepared to address the needs of diverse students and clients. Our strong commitment to social justice is reflected throughout our curriculum, arranged training opportunities for students, and provided supervision and faculty mentorship.

Earn your degree close to home and around your schedule. The School of Education holds graduate and credentialing programs at Redlands’ main campus, as well as at Rancho Cucamonga, Riverside, and Marin County branch locations. Tuition and Financial Aid

 

Invest in your future and the far-reaching effects a social justice-centric education can have. Fifty percent of School of Education students receive scholarships, and additional forms of aid, including grants and loans, help support your endeavor.
