The Department of Leadership and Higher Education is made up of faculty members who work in the areas of leadership, educational administration, and policy. The department houses three graduate programs including; our Ed.D. program in Leadership for Educational Justice and two Master of Arts programs in Educational Administration and Higher Education. The department is committed to creating exceptional learning experiences for graduate students in small, personal, educational settings.

The School of Education's Department of Leadership and Higher Education prepares students for leadership and administration roles in education at the elementary, secondary, and college and university levels. Guided by the ideals of equity and access, the Department of Leadership and Higher Education builds critical thinking and problem-solving skills through the application of diversity and multiculturalism concepts. Beyond the interdisciplinary curriculum, students refine their communication and interpersonal skills to be able to change community perception and elevate levels of collaboration.

In doing so, the Department graduates students that are true agents of change, making meaningful progress that closes the equity gap from elementary to higher education. 

Master's Degrees and Credential Programs

The credential and master's degree programs  in Leadership and Higher Education provide a transformative academic experience rooted in the goal of making schools more equitable for all. 

The master's degree in School and District Leadership and Preliminary Administrative Services credential program train leaders who have a fine-tuned sense of cultural sensitivity and an awareness of structural issues detrimental to students from diverse backgrounds, the Higher Education and Student Affairs master's degree allows aspiring higher education professionals to develop the skills needed to practice informed decision-making rooted in social justice.
