New Projects Breaking Ground on the Redlands Campus

Dear University Community:

We are thrilled to share the exciting news about two significant projects breaking ground on the Redlands campus this summer – the revitalization of the University’s Fitness Center and the Holt Hall ADA renovation. Both initiatives, generously funded through philanthropy, represent a substantial investment in our entire Bulldog community. Per our strategic plan, Forward Together, these improvements also demonstrate our unwavering commitment to our students by enhancing their experience while aiding in retaining and recruiting future students.

Fitness Center Revitalization Project

The renovated Fitness Center, made possible through a generous lead gift from Althea ’23 and Jim Schroeder ’65, is designed to reflect current fitness trends while providing an optimal training space for our student-athletes and Bulldog fitness enthusiasts. From cutting-edge equipment to durable sport-impact flooring, this project promises to elevate the gym experience and will be open to all students, staff, and faculty. We expect the project to begin in early July, with an anticipated opening sometime in mid-August.

Additional new equipment will include:

  • Hammer Strength branded free weights, racks, platforms, and plate-loaded machines
  • TKO-branded selectorized machines
  • Precor branded cardio machines
  • Nordic branded hamstring developer
  • Top-tier combo squat racks and platforms
  • Dumbbell pit and plate/pin-loaded machines

Holt ADA project

This summer, we will also break ground on a renovation project aimed at ensuring accessibility for all members of our community. Thomas McClung ’69, along with many Johnstonians and parents of Johnston Center students, provided gifts to make this project a reality. Holt Hall will undergo significant enhancements to meet ADA standards. This transformative project will focus on renovating two bathrooms, a kitchen, and create a laundry facility on the first floor of Holt, making these essential spaces fully accessible. Additionally, a dorm room on the first floor will undergo renovation to meet the same standards. Exploratory demolition began this week and is anticipated to be completed in late July.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our incredible donors whose generosity has made these projects possible. Please stay tuned for future communications about project updates.

Go Bulldogs!
