Graduate Music Programs

The Conservatory of Music offers rolling admissions for the graduate program and will continue to accept applications throughout the year. However, the deadline for graduate assistantship consideration is April 1st.

We encourage you to learn more about the Conservatory of Music programs by visiting our campus and meeting with a faculty member prior to applying for admission.

  • Official transcripts from all schools where a bachelor's or master's was or will be conferred. *In some cases transcripts from other institutions attended may be required.
  • Two letters of recommendation

Audition Dates and Deadlines for 2024

Spring 2024: Accepting applications for Composition, Performance, and Artist Diploma

  • Application Deadline – November 1st
  • Audition Deadline – December 1st

Fall 2024: Accepting applications for all programs

Composition: Rolling application deadline. Score submission and virtual interview required.
Conducting: Application and pre-screening deadline is March 1. In-person audition by invitation only.
Kodály Pedagogy: Rolling application and audition.
Pedagogy: Rolling application and audition.
Performance: Rolling application and audition.
Vocal Chamber Music: Application and pre-screening deadline is December 1. Live audition on February 3, 2024, by invitation only.
Artist Diploma: Rolling application and audition.

Audition dates and deadlines

  • Saturday, February 3 – University of Redlands
  • Saturday, February 10 - University of Redlands Marin Campus
  • Saturday, February 17 - University of Redlands
  • Sunday, February 18 - Video audition submission deadline
  • Saturday, February 24 - Virtual interviews for composition applicants and those who submit a video audition

Video auditions and composition scores must be submitted via the Music Application Portal.

  • Uploaded videos should include an introduction, and answer the question, "Why do you want to attend the University of Redlands?"

  • Before beginning your performance, please speak the title of your piece and the name of the composer.

Accompanists

  • Instrumental auditions should be unaccompanied.
  • Voice auditions should be accompanied. An accompanist is preferred, but a recorded accompaniment is perfectly acceptable.
    • An accompanist is provided for in person auditions.
