DESCRIPTION: Sells USPS services & products to campus community and the general public and provides complete mail services to student population, including receipt and delivery of all USPS mail, Federal Express and UPS packages and sale of postage and USPS services.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Provides Customer Service for the Student Mail Center and USPS Contract Postal Unit.
•Operates a cash register and shares accountability for funds/daily balancing of the cash drawer utilized in the sale of USPS products and services.
•Prepares USPS deposit and all associated paper work.
•Operates a computerized mailing system in the sale of USPS postage and services.
•Receives and processes accountable packages/mail utilizing a specialized software application.
•Receives and distributes USPS mail for students.
•Completes departmental log sheets and other required USPS forms and paper work.
•Responds by phone to students, parents and campus community to questions and needs related to receipt and delivery of mail, USPS rules, rates and regulations.
•Involved in the training of student employees and the on-going monitoring of their job duties for quality control purposes.
•Performs other duties and special projects as assigned or directed.
•Adheres to all safety and housekeeping projects as assigned or directed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent and one to three years (1-3) previous experience in a Customer Service/ USPS training preferred. Successful candidate must be detail orientated and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to learn quickly; have a working knowledge of computers and office equipment; have general math skills and be able to adhere to policy and procedures and follow a strict time schedule. Position requires extensive walking, standing bending, reaching and lifting. Upon offer of employment, candidate must successfully pass a physical examination demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions and capacity to lift and transport mail weighing up to 45 pounds. A current DMV printout demonstrating an excellent driving record will be required at time of hire. Candidate must have the ability to work independently and as a team in a multi-task oriented environment and be able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.
