About Kerri Mitchell

Kerri has been teaching in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders since 2015. Areas of interest include pediatric and adult dysphagia, voice disorders and early language intervention. Primary responsibilities in the department include clinical teaching in the areas of assessment and intervention in the medical setting.

Professional Background

Prior to working for the University, Kerri was employed as the Speech-Language Pathology Supervisor at Redlands Community Hospital. While working for RCH, she partnered with the University to begin an externship program that allows students to participate in weekly grand rounds with patients exhibiting a variety of swallowing, language and cognitive deficits. Prior to working at RCH, Kerri worked at St. Bernardine’s Medical Center and San Bernardino Community Hospital. Areas of interest and training included working with premature infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, adult dysphagia, voice disorders and tracheostomy. Kerri has been trained in MBSiMP and cue-based feeding in the NICU.
