Student Employment Overview

Work Study

The work-study program offers part-time job opportunities both on and off campus to eligible financial aid recipients who need assistance to meet college expenses.

As a student in the work-study program, you gain "real world" experience and personal career growth through practical skill-building and learning opportunities on the job.

Students are eligible for student employment (work-study program) if they are enrolled as a full-time (at least 12 units) undergraduate student and received a work award as part of their financial aid package.

Work award eligibility is determined by the Student Financial Services Office and is based on demonstrated need, according to financial aid policies. Students in the work-study program, typically work up to 10 hours per week and have a work award limit ($4,500) on the amount of money they can earn in the academic year.

Students working on campus will receive payment on a bi-weekly basis in the form of a live check in their on campus mailbox or via direct deposit. Work-study earnings are not applied directly to the student account, but are used at the student's discretion to cover education costs such as books, fees, personal items and expenses.

Students may hold more than one work-study position at a time. In order to keep academics the first priority, the combined hours from both positions should not exceed the 10 hours per week limit.

At the beginning of each semester, students in good standing have the choice to return to their position or seek new employment opportunities.

Students without a work award

The Office of Career and Professional Development, located on the bottom floor of the Armacost Library, solicits and posts part-time job opportunities from the community, which are available to all Redlands students, whether or not they have a work award. While most of these jobs require you to provide your own transportation, some are within walking or biking distance.
