Melanie Luine

Department Coordinator
Theatre and Dance

About Melanie Luine

Melanie is the Department Coordinator for the U of R Theatre Department. She is an alum of this department, obtaining her BA in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Stage Management back in 2015. Here at U of R she stage-managed such shows as The Och Tamale Comedy HourThe SeagullThe New Works Festival, and Stop, Kiss. She also worked as an ASM for Spring Awakening and backstage for Peer Gynt and Urinetown.

Her love of theatre began in high school, quickly jumping into a variety of different roles both onstage and off. She worked on backstage crews, set crews, both ASM & SM, designing, directing, advanced acting, and became an executive president. She is a Thespian, accumulating well over a thousand hours in the theatre by the time she graduated in 2015. After graduation, she obtained her Masters in Television Producing and Management from Boston University and interned for the Conan O’Brien show on the WB Studio backlot.

Melanie feels extremely lucky to be working back in the theatre at her alma mater, this time as a faculty member instead of student, which is sometimes very weird! In her role, she is the point of contact for the department and handles all social media and marketing for the theatre season, along with ticketing and house management. What she loves most is getting to be in a theatre environment everyday and be surrounded by those who also love it just as much. “I get to be creative and talk about theatre all day…what’s better than that?”
