All teacher candidates who are advancing to student teaching, teacher residency, or a teaching internship must have a valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate at the time of application. CPR certificates must cover infants, children, and adults and meet the standards established by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. The certificate must remain valid during the entire time the student will be completing fieldwork.
To eligible for student teaching or an Intern or Preliminary Teaching Credential recommendation, candidates are required to have a valid CPR certificate. CPR certificates are only valid for 2 years from the issue date listed on the CPR certificate.
To obtain a CPR certificate, candidates may enroll in a class locally or online that covers infant, child, and adult CPR skills and meets the standards established by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
