What is an economics degree?

A degree in economics will equip you with a deep understanding of how economies function and the principles governing economic behavior. You will choose from three pathways matched to different post-graduate plans:

  • Our Bachelor of Arts in Economics is designed to be open and flexible, allowing you to complement economics with studies in data science, public policy, business, and other fields.
  • Our Bachelor of Science in Economics seeks to prepare you for quantitatively demanding careers and graduate school in economics.
  • Finally, our Bachelor of Science in Financial Economics seeks to prepare you for careers in the finance departments of non-financial corporations, but also the world of financial institutions from investment banks to personal financial advising.

Why should you major in economics at Redlands?

At Redlands, you'll have the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with professors who are experts in various areas of economics, and explore how economics intersects with other fields such as politics, environmental studies, and sociology. This interdisciplinary approach provides a holistic understanding of economic issues and integrates a focus on ethical considerations and global perspectives into its economics curriculum. Through this approach, you'll understand the broader implications of economic policies and decisions.
