Interested in joining a Greek organization?
Sign up to RUSH and get to know each organization by participating in our many "get to know you" events to determine which organization is the best fit for you. We ask that you keep an open mind and get to know each group as best as you can. This is an organization that you will belong to for life, so take this process seriously.
New Member Expectations
New Members of Organizations with New Member Processes must abide by the specific expectations to remain a part of the New Member Process. Please see below for information regarding New Member guidelines.
Greek Community Service
Members of the Greek Community are required to complete 10 hours of community service each semester they are active in their chapter. The Greek Community participates in many All Greek Service efforts.
Academic Expectations
Greek students focus on academic achievement and excellence as a community. New members are required to complete 20 hours of study per week during the new members process and must have a minimum 2.5 GPA before they can join a Greek organization.
As an organization, Greeks are held accountable to the Greek Academics Policy where a group faces a loss of privileges if they fall below a cumulative 3.0 GPA.
As an individual, every member in the Greek community must have a 2.5 GPA or they run the risk of losing privileges.
Feel free to ask for a copy of the Individual or Group Greek Academic Policy.
Policies & Regulations
At Redlands we are committed to work with Greek organizations to create a campus-wide culture of health, responsibility and tolerance.
A number of policies, including a ban on hazing, are in place to help ensure that students behave in ways that are respectful and do not endanger the physical or emotional health of other students.
Policies and regulations include:
- Greek new member standards
- Greek Organization Expectations
- Party Policy
- Hazing Policy
- All fraternities and sororities operate chapter houses on campus, providing members with the opportunity for small-group living and socialization. Please review the Organizational Supplemental Handbook on the Organizational Housing page with any questions or concerns about our houses.
New Member Education
Six classes every Monday covering specific topics including Hazing, Academics, Alcohol Education, Sexual Assault, and other topics specific to the community.
Every Organization reviews their New Member Process and any updates with the Director of Greek Life regularly. The New Member Educators review all University New Member Standards documents and Hazing Policies each semester.
