The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders promotes and recognizes academic excellence in the areas of speech, language and hearing.
Honors projects may take different forms:
A case study in which you develop tasks which are motivated by theoretical or descriptive considerations and then work with a client(s) and document the outcome
An experimental or descriptive research project using quantitative or qualitative methods
A theoretical position used to develop a clinical assessment or intervention program
Another project deemed appropriate for honors, as determined by the your faculty advisor with concurrence of departmental faculty
All honors projects in the department require that you make a public presentation and you must pass an oral defense of your honors work. Honors will be awarded provided you successfully complete the honors program as described on the application, including maintaining a minimum overall GPA of 3.6.
If you are a junior with a minimum overall GPA of 3.6, you can apply for your senior honors project during the course of your fall semester. Meet with your advisor to begin developing your project.
