Post-Graduate Students

Accessing Transcripts

Graduates of the University of Redlands looking to access their academic transcripts can do so through the Registrar's Office, either online or in person. The online portal typically requires alumni to log in with their student credentials or create an account if they haven't accessed the system since graduating. It's important to verify personal information and select the type of transcript needed, whether unofficial for personal use or official for employment or further education. There may be a fee associated with the request, and processing times can vary, so plan accordingly, especially if you have upcoming deadlines for job applications or advanced studies.

Post-Graduation

OPT Training

Optional Practical Training (OPT) is a program available to international alumni holding F-1 visa status, allowing them to gain practical work experience in their field of study for up to 12 months post-graduation, with a possible 24-month extension for STEM fields. Alumni interested in OPT must apply through the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) before their student visa expires. The application process involves coordination with the OISS and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to ensure compliance with all legal requirements. Successful applicants are granted work authorization, enabling them to enhance their professional skills while contributing to their field of study in the U.S.

Pay it Forward

Alumni could "pay it forward" by contributing to the success of future generations of Redlands students. This can be achieved through mentoring programs, where alumni share their professional experiences and insights, or by participating in career panels and workshops. Financial contributions to scholarships, academic programs, or campus improvement projects can also have a significant impact. Additionally, offering internships or job opportunities to current students or recent graduates is a tangible way to support the Redlands community and help pave the way for the next cohort of successful alumni.

Post-Grad Events

These events range from local meetups and professional networking opportunities to annual traditions like Homecoming and class reunions. Special interest events, such as industry-specific gatherings or cultural outings, are also organized to cater to the diverse interests of alumni. These events provide a platform for alumni to reconnect with classmates, meet new friends, and engage with the university community in meaningful ways.

Departing the US

For international graduates, departing the U.S. after completing their studies or OPT period requires careful planning. You should check the expiration dates on their visa and passport to ensure they depart before these documents expire. It's also wise to consult with the Office of International Students and Scholars about any steps or notifications required before leaving the U.S. Alumni should also consider their tax obligations, closing or transferring bank accounts, and shipping personal belongings, among other logistical considerations.

Information about entering and leaving the US can be found here.
